What should I do if my bicycle is stolen?
You report to VELO (in the Hollestraat) as soon as possible. You can get another bike for the remaining rental period, provided you pay another deposit. If your bike is found anyway, you will get your deposit back under certain conditions.
I don't have a new student card yet. Can I rent at student rates?
By showing proof of enrollment for the new academic year, you can rent at the student rate.
How can I pay?
You can pay cash, with bancontact, Payconiq, with Visa and mastercard or ecocheques. Cash cannot be paid at our Rector De Somer and Gasthuisberg bike points.
I return my bike before their lease expires. Will I receive a refund?
No. We will not refund your rental fee if you bring your bike in earlier than expected. If your bike has no major damage, you do get your deposit back.
I lost my key. Now what?
You can have spare keys made at our shop for €7 or €15, depending on the type. To do this, please come to the Hollestraat preferably before 5 pm.
I want to renew my contract. What do I do?
You can extend your contract at our main workshop at Hollestraat in Heverlee. You can also extend your contract by using our online customer portal using the link you find below.
My bike is broken. Where can I get my bike repaired in Leuven?
For that you can go to all VELO’s bike repair points in Leuven and Heverlee, except the VELO point FD. The latter point is only for users of 2WD bikes.
My bicycle is broken. How do I repair my bicycle myself?
You can visit DIY bicycle workshops for that. See also at bicycle repair shops.
What is the minimum duration of a rental agreement?
The minimum period for renting a student bicycle is one month. If you want a bike for a shorter time, rent a bike for a short term at the bike point at the Leuven train station.
Can I give my old bike to VELO?
If you have a bike that you no longer need and want to get rid of: bring it in to VELO on the Hollestraat. We recycle as many parts as possible. We don’t give money for old bikes.
Where can I buy a second-hand bike?
At Hollestraat in Heverlee, we always have a selection of decent used sales bikes. Our bike points in Aarschot and Diest also sell quality used bikes. We do advise students to rent rather than buy, due to the inclusion of a solid lock, maintenance and repair with our rental contracts.
What is the price of a second-hand bike for sale?
Prices for buying a used sales bike start from €150. The price of each used sales bike depends on the type of bike and how the bike is equipped.
Where can I buy a cheap bike?
You can find a cheap used bicycle (<€150) at Kringwinkel Vites (Ijzerenmolenstraat). The selection is limited, though.

You can rent a student bike at VELO on Hollestraat.
